Great toy! Have only had it a day but seems very sturdy. My only complaint would be that it could be a couple inches taller, deeper and wider. It is plenty big for a 2 year old but I am just worried that after 5years old she’ll be way too big for it…we’ll find out I guess. But for our small house this was probably the best way to go. The style is great…not so busy it overwhelms a small space. I am not sure why people complain about it being so difficult to put together…they must not have any experience assembling things (all the holes lined up just fine for us…which I’ve heard complaints about). Just use an allen wrench bit for your power drill and you’ll be done in no time. It did take us probably an hour to assemble this (both my husband and I together…with the help of our 2 year old…which is not advised…ha!). Just be sure to set the torque fairly low…over tightening can create bumps on and potentially crack the face of what you are screwing into. Daughter is sooo excited about this….for an hour I think she said “washa hands use soap!” while playing at the sink. ha!

thought it was wood…it is particle board, not heavy wood. A piece was broken but after we pulled it all out to put it together, didn’t want to send that piece back and leave everything waiting…so we just used it. Still works fine, baby enjoys it….not much counter space to cut up or prepare food

This is a great little play kitchen. Very cute style, offers all the “options” a little chef would want in their pretend kitchen, however, I will say it was a bit smaller than I anticipated. However, my kindergartener still loves it, so I guess in this case size doesn’t matter
Assembly was easier than some other toys we’ve had (this is actually our 2nd kitchen, the first one didn’t hold up well and was much harder to assemble) and I would recommend it. It would be especially great for those with limited space due to the size.
cute kitchen but be aware….

…this is no Plan or Haba enviro kitchen, there are lots of plastic pieces (the handles, phone, sink, anything silver in the photo) and I had to air it out after we put it together, it had a strong paint smell for a bit. Also a pain to put together, some of the hardware is tricky, and a few of the pieces arrived damaged. But that said I still give it a high rating: One, the company is super-responsive. Within one day I had a personal email response from the company and within 3 days I had free replacement parts at my front door. Two, the kitchen is tall enough for a 3 or 4 year old, so we’ll get some good use out it, but it’s sturdy, and I’m confident it won’t topple over on my toddler. Three, it’s funky and cute, with enough details and color to make it fun, but simple enough to leave room for pretend play. I was tempted to get a plastic kitchen with sound effects etc. but am happy we went with a wooden one even though the assembly time was longer. My daughter provides her own sounds when she cooks or turns on the “water” and that makes me happy.
One thing: the set comes with a metal pot and ladle, which I took away until she gets a little older. In the meantime I got the Melissa & Doug wooden pot set, which is a great buy. I also bought the M&D food groups set, but at her age (18 months) she is just as happy cooking her regular blocks.
great but a pain to setup

Our daughter loves this kitchen but like everyone is say its a pain to setup.
One note for setting it up, if you are using a power drill, don’t over drive in the screws too much or it will damage the
wood panels.
I would highly recommend it.
Sturdy, beautiful, fun kitchen

This is a great kitchen set for little ones. Our daughter is 3, and loves pretending to cook, bake cookies, and make all kinds of things. Unlike some of the other play kitchens we looked at, this set just looks really nice. The ‘retro’ look, and smooth finish, keep us from making her play with it in the basement…it’s sitting in our family room, and looks really nice. It has tons of cabinets, and doors to open, and places to store pots and pans and play food. It’s really a great, well designed, beautifully constructed set.
HOWEVER, you absolutely have to plan at least 2 and a half hours, with someone else’s help, to put this set together. There are a LOT of pieces. Every bolt, nut, and screw come packaged seperatly, and every piece is individually wrapped. I have a Master’s of Architecture degree, and it took me and a family member 2 and a half hours to put together. You need at least 4 hands to do it, because a number of the steps require holding pieces in awkward positions, or holding two pieces while screwing them together.
The directions are intricate, but really well layed out, and really easy to follow. There are just a lot of steps, and you have to follow them really carefully. Again, with two people, and plenty of time, it’s doable. Just be patient, and diligent, and it will happen.
Also, make sure that all of the parts (and there are a LOT of them) are in the box when it arrives. Check them against the list in the instructions, piece by piece. Our set was missing the two faucet handles. BUT, I called the 800 number in the instruction book and within 2 days we had replacement parts to install into the set. It was very easy to get the missing pieces.
It’s a beautiful set, that takes a long time to put together. But it’s totally worth the time and money to see how much our little girl enjoys playing with it.
Well worth the labor and money

My daughter is 2 and we purchased this for her birthday. She loves it and we love it. It is a great size and everything is so durable and sturdy. The doors are a challenge putting on but once it is all said and done you have a beautiful kitchen and a happy child. We love it!
VERY cute…but some assembly/quality annoyances

I have to say it is absolutely adorable! We just finished assembling it and can’t wait to give it to our 2-1/2 year old daughter.
BUT, one of the panels for the back of the fridge was damaged when it arrived. Not enough to care too badly especially since it’s the back of the fridge which will be against a wall, but kind of annoying.
Then, one of the nuts actually BROKE when we were putting the unit together because the holes weren’t drilled at quite the right angle so this made the wood slightly split and we had to go without one of the bolts.
Finally, there are a ton of little doors to put on and the screws that come for that purpose are all flat-bottom screws rather than pointy and the screws are REALLY small so getting them to “grip” into the wood and get a good start was really really frustrating.
All this being said, the organization and labeling of parts by KidKraft was great…it’s just that some parts could be better (pointy screws and stronger bolts). It took about 2-1/2 hours to put together at least and you need two people because attaching the doors is fiddly business. I recommend laying the unit on it’s side as you attach doors so that you aren’t trying to line up screw-holes and hold a door up at the same time….much better to have the door laying flat!
For the most part, it seems like it will be pretty sturdy so I hope we’re right and it stands up to the test of time.
