Great for learning!

My almost 2-year-old daughter just received this for her birthday. It’s great for her to learn more about different fruits, counting, colors, and cutting! She’s not so coordinated with the cutting part yet but she tries. The fruit pieces are great quality and see them NOT chipping or the paint wearing off. I got her the sushi set for her upcoming birthday so we can’t wait to try that out!
lots of fun

Eighteen month old loves taking apart pieces of fruit, identifying fruit etc…nice heavy wood pieces…only downside- if they get tossed around the paint will chip…

This item is one of our grandson’s favorite toys. Way to go Melissa & Doug!!
Great for 2.5+

This toy, like many of the Melissa and Doug, is durable and inspires imaginative play. My daughter absolutely loves cutting the food ‘just like mommy’. It is a little difficult for her to get some of the fruit started, but is just enough challenge at 2.5 y.o.
Not as good as Melissa & Doug Cutting Food Box!

I was so excited to see this Wooden Cutting Fruit Crate because my older daughter and niece have the old Cutting Food Box but since we are gluten free the fruit seemed like a nice addition for the little kids. Unfortunately it is not nearly the same quality. The pieces don’t seem to fit together as snuggly and the velcro isn’t as strong so it is more as if the fruit falls apart instead of the cutting sensation the first set has. Also the wooden food itself doesn’t feel as substantial/heavy and it doesn’t come in a box with a lid like the older set. I don’t know if the quality of the Cutting food box has gone down as well or if it is just this set, but I am pretty disappointed.
Pretty, detailed, helps motorskills… a winner at our house

My 20 month old has been playing with this since Christmas and for such a simple toy it doens’t get old. At first she loved pulling apart each piece and is now working on using the chunky wooden knife to cut the fruit. The sound and feel of the chopping with this set is the best. Other features I like: the colors are pleasing (the fruit looks pretty in a bowl), the inside of the fruit is depicted fairly accurately, and each piece is very durable.
My son loves this!

He will play with this for many years. He now thinks he is allowed to use a knife at the table, so we have to be careful around real knives. The wooden fruit is much more duarble than plastic fruit, which we also have.
Great educational toy
Fabulous toy!

I purchased this toy for my 22 month old son and he loves it! We count the pieces, name the fruit and learn to share. He’s now 28 months and still enjoys this toy very much. I guess it makes him feel big that he’s cutting his own fruit
Great toy

My 16 month-old son took to this right away! He loves to match the peices of the fruit and then ‘cut’ them (with a little help from me).
Just a fluke?

We have a lot of Melissa and Doug toys. The cutting food set is my daughter’s favorite toy so I bought this set to go along with it. We just brought it home from store and I am so disappointed! Some of the velcro pieces are sunken into the wooden holes and so they barely “stick” together. The cantelope holds together by just a few strings. One of the velcro pieces on the orange is a piece from the end or side of a roll? It only has velcro on half of the piece, the rest is just material. We’re so used to such high quality from Melissa and Doug that it really surprises me! I’ll take it back and try again. I hope this isn’t a reflection on a decrease in quality from our favorite toy brand.
