Very Happy With This One
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I cannot believe how much people on her are complaining. We started putting the kitchen together at 6 p.m. and it is now 7:30 p.m. It took us (mostly my husband) an hour and a half to put it together. It wasn’t that bad at all!!
There are a lot of pieces and it can look overwhelming but if you sit in a room and lay the pieces out, cut all the pieces out and shave down the edges (we used a box cutter) then start putting it together it doesn’t take that long at all. If you can read instructions you shouldn’t have a problem with it at all.
It is very sturdy and I am sure my daughter will have hours of fun with this toy. It is a great starter kitchen!
A couple of the doors were bent but we heated them up with a hair dryer and straigtened them. They are fine now. I look at it this way if I can save $10 to $20 and put it together myself…why not?
I recommend this to everyone.
I am very pleased!!!
My husband wanted me to add if you have ever put a bicycle or a model car together you can put this together!!
Assembly nightmare

I’m really glad I started assembly of this product days in advance of Christmas. It would have been an awful Christmas eve if I’d started it then, after the kids were a’bed.
It was a nightmare to assemble. Not hard, really. Just WAY too many pieces, all in their little fabrication “clusters”, that had to be located, snapped, screwed, etc. I have a Ph.D. in a science field, and it took me THREE HOURS to assemble this $50 toy. There’s got to be a better way. And if it all falls apart in three days (which I expect it will), I’ll be taking it back to the store.
My advice….spend a little extra money and buy something better. Preferably, something made of wood or laminate, with fewer pieces. Open the box and look inside before chosing this product.
I would highly recommend this kitchen

We bought this for our 2 1/2 year old twin boys. It was a bit time consuming to put together, but very much worth the time! Our boys love it! I can’t believe we got such a great kitchen for only $44 at Wal-Mart! We just got some play food to add to it, and whaalaa! The burners make sounds and the little knobs make clicking sounds when you turn them.
We would recommend that you use a sharp box cutter or utility knife, instead of the recommended wire cutters, to cut the pieces out. This will ensure that you are not leaving sharp edges on each of the pieces.
If you are thinking of a first toy kitchen…this is the one.
Pass this one up!!

This kitchen looks wonderful in the picture but in reality…it is cheap…very cheap. I know you get what you pay for but come on…this is bad. The pieces are cheap, sharp edges removing them from the other parts, assembly takes forever…especially when you try to make this toy work right and file down the sharp edges. Overall…this is just not worth it. I will take it back and do research before I buy another kitchen set. This is just a bad product…sad but true. The cell phone won’t got together (falls apart when you pick it up), doors don’t shut right, pieces don’t fit together right…so on. Ugh…
Three hours to assemble; not very high quality

I spent 3 hours on Christmas Eve assembling this (didn’t read the reviews here). It made for a very grumpy Christmas day. It’s not very high quality–jagged edges on many pieces. I highly recommend purchasing something else.
meets expectations

I paid $44 for this kitchen at our local Wal-Mart, and for the price it is an excellent choice. Putting it together was a miserable experience, and it took about 2 hours (But I was being distracted by Transformers (Two-Disc Special Edition + BD Live) [Blu-ray] being on in the background.) Once it’s together the product is as good of quality as most of the Step 2 products that cost 4 times as much.
1000 Piece Plastic Nightmare!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
My wife purchased this at Wal Mart for Christmas and it is a miserable experience for parents to assemble. Sheet after sheet of mass stamped plastic pieces that must be cut out with something stronger than scissors. I am serious when I say the pieces are endless! It has taken several hours just to cut them out! I have not even gotten to the point of trying to assemble this mess and I know it is not going to go well or look anything like it does on in the picture. My wife just found the recipe and I am going to pack it all back in the box and try to return it. Avoid this product and the pain it inflicts!
Worth the savings!!

I purchased this kitchen after reading all the reviews, the good and the bad. I decided to take my chances to save money since I was purchasing for an 18 month old for Christmas and I’m not even really sure she will love it, I just thought it was cute and we had the perfect place for it. I was prepared for the million gazillion pieces and maybe some not so perfect pieces. And so it begins…
Prep:
We put our daughter down at 8:15 and decided to bring the box out and put together since Christmas was 22 days away and I had heard it would take nearly that long to assemble!! My husband cut the pieces out and I took a razor blade and cut off all the sharp edges from where the plastic was attached. It was a pain, especially the little forks, knives and spoons!! We finished that task around 9 and were able to start assembling.
Assembly:
My husband was going to do this part, he got quite a bit done but then got to a part that was just too confusing for him so he turned the raines over to me. It was a guy thing, you know-the whole can’t read directions thing! I had no problem and was able to inform him that he was trying to put the piece on the wrong side AND upside down!! Of course it was the directions fault and not his. Guess it was just the woman’s brain who could understand such clear directions! Moved along pretty well on this part until my husband kept trying to hand me the wrong piece…
The near divorce:
It was getting late, I was tired, the husband was tired, and I was ready to be done so I was doing the irritated wife gestures looking at him like he was an idiot and pointing to the pieces like he was incapable of even breathing at this point. Naturally, he threatened that he was going to hit me in the face with the biggest piece this kitchen comes with! And of course, I dared him to!! We made it out unscathed!
After all was said and done it was 11:45. It took 3 1/2 hours, not as bad as the 22 days I had originally planned for. We assembled the last piece and both sat back laughing hysterically and could only mutter-”the things you do for your kids”!! I love the kitchen. I can’t wait to give it to her for Christmas. I am surprised at the craftsmanship for the $40 I got it for on sale. Sure, some pieces were a little bent or crooked, but certainly usable! I look forward to playing with it with my daughter and it seems to be sturdy enough to last years. I am very happy with the purchase and would reccomend it to anyone!!
Not worth it.

Package arrived all beat up. Missing hardware and stick-on stickers for oven. Will cost me money to ship back which is no fault of my own which really sucks. Package was so beat up I had to make major repairs to ship it back. Looks like package was already returned from a previous purchase and nobody checked the package to make sure all parts were in the package before selling it again. Looks like somebody is making money by having this package shipped back and forth.
Great item, but give yourself assembly time

I read reviews from several web sites regarding this product, and it seemed that people either loved it or hated it. There are a few things to consider; 1 – it is less than most other play kitchens (which is why I selected it) and 2 – it does come in several pieces; similar to model cars. If you are buying this for a gift, I recommend finding a quiet place with good light to put this together. I spent about an hour total putting it together. Some of the reviews mentioned the sharp edges left after separating the pieces. These sharp spots were nothing that a nail file could not take care of. Shame on those of you that did not file down the sharp edges for your children, but still complained about them. I had no problems putting the item together, and my son loves it! You are looking for a good quality product, for not a lot of money, then I would highly recommend this product for your budding little chef!
