ouch
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Very durable. My daughter has played with it for three years. I threw the orange and the apple away after being in the line of fire of a two year old’s temper tantrum. Now she’s four and the tantrums have passed. I guess I should have saved them but wooden fruit hurts!
Paint chips
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I bought this instead of a plastic product because of my concerns regarding plastics. And I will point out that I could have probably gotten triple the amount of play food had I gone with plastic. But for safety issues, I chose this set instead. However, after a week of active play the paint is already chipping off of several pieces. So I don’t have to worry about BPA, just about my children possibly ingesting lead.
All the Melissa and Doug products I’ve bought over the last 4 years have really seemed sub-par in quality, and of course they’re all made in China. My child really enjoys this set but if I find a vendor with a non-MIC product, I will replace it.
Super educational fun

I use this to teach with in daycare. All the kids love playing pretend with it as well. Each food group comes in a different basket wich they love to set in the kitchen set. All of the pieces are very durable & high quailty. Forget the plastic play food and get this you won’t have to replace any pretend food for a long time.
Great fun and educational

I purchased this set along with four other sets and a food stand for my son for his birthday. He wanted to open a store and sell things. He has really enjoyed making sandwiches and selling his food to his brothers and his father and I. The set is a good size and has been played with in our house by girls and boys ages one to nine, not to mention how much I have played with it with them. Highly recommended.
Not what i expected
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Some where along the lines I missed that the food was wooden, I was expecting plastic for some reason. My son does seem to still enjoy it and using his food to help me cook. They do seem like they will hold up a lot better than plastic stuff. Just really heavy and not real size.
Hours of play
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My 1 year old and 3 year old love this item. The food groups are a great way to teach children about the four food groups and help them begin to differentiate between them. These products will not bend or break and are great when played with correctly or tossed around by a 1 year old.
lots of food for the $$
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
A whole lot of food for the $$, I couldn’t beleive how many pieces are in this set. Nice enough quality. My 18-month-old daughter isn’t so into them, she cooks her regular old blocks more than these right now but they’re a nice starter play food set and she’ll grow into them. I think they make a great gift along with the M&D wooden cookware set.
quality play food

Melissa and Doug toys are always high quality. I purchased this item to add to my son’s new grocery stand. The wooden crates make the food look even more market-like, which is perfect. Great toys!
Great Quality

I really like the Melissa & Doug quality. I got these food groups for my daughters kitchen set. She likes to name the items and she especially likes the cheese triangle. She should get years of use from this set.
Can’t go wrong with Melissa and Doug

As always a great product from Melissa and Doug at a great price. This set of play food is head and shoulders above the other play sets. So durable, not like the plastic and cardboard sets.
