Sanyo NEW 1500 eneloop 4 Pack AA Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries with Charger List Price: Sale Price: $9.99 You save: $12.00 (55%) |
DescriptionSanyo eneloop (4) 2000mAh Pre-Charged AA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries are one of the most environmentally friendly and long lasting batteries available to consumers. Sanyo eneloop is backed by revolutionary technology that separates itself from the conventional NiMH Batteries. A conventional NiMH Battery can be charged only up to 500 times and loses about 10-15% of its charge on the first day itself. In contrast, Sanyo eneloop batteries retain up to 85% of their charge even after one year. Not only that, but they can be recharged up to 1000 times. The included charger is designed to charge cells in pairs. It takes about 10 hours to fully charge the Eneloop NiMH AA Battery. The charge time may vary depending upon battery condition and temperature. The LED indicators placed at the bottom portion of the charger inform user of charging status. Features

Useful and practical
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I like practical things, and this is one of those. This charger works great for me, and charges my batteries in less than one hour what comes to be an advantage at the time of use.
Compact but slow, and not for overseas.
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I purchased this compact Energizer AA/AAA charger about 4 years ago to replace my unwieldy Energizer universal charger, which worked with AA, AAA, C, D, and 9V. (Turns out I only use AA and AAA batteries.) This charger is compact and has a sleek design, but the technology now lags far behind the competition. In fact, I am surprised to see that the exact same product I bought in 2005 is still available!
Charger pros:
-Compact
-Sleek design
Charger cons:
-Only charges in pairs
-Charges based on time, not battery charge (a.k.a. “dumb” charger)
-Does not work internationally (120V rather than 100-240V)
-Full charge takes 8.5 hours (must leave in wall overnight)
-Only one light to indicate full charge for all 4 batteries
-Light goes from green to off, not from red to green (confusing)
Battery pros:
-AA 2500mAh rating lasts a long time during a single use (e.g., a full day of photography)
-Included batteries have lasted 4 years without excessive memory loss
Battery cons:
-AA 2500mAh rating cannot be paired with AA 2450mAh, which is the rating for Energizer’s standalone battery packs
-Batteries have high drain when not in use, unlike newer low self-discharge designs
If you are going to go with an inexpensive battery charger, consider a 100-240V Duracell, Kodak, or Sanyo charger with better charge time instead. You can purchase these chargers alone or in combination with low self-discharge rechargeable batteries, which are better than those included here. A value pack from Sanyo, for example, costs less than this Energizer pack and includes a “smart” (charge-based, not time-based) charger!
Ultimately, this item is obsolete. Buyer beware.
Gets HOT but still works
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
ENERGIZER CHD-CA: I am not sure if it is something that is wrong with the charger, or the batteries, or if it is just normal. But the batteries get super HOT. The light stays on, so I assume it is still charging, but this is probably not the smarter unit that knows how to turn itself off. Still, it serves as a simple backup when others have failed. It is still working after 3 years, unlike my Sanyo NC-MQH01U Super Quick Charger that died on us after 3 years. Oh, and I like how it closes up and makes it compact to pack.
Update: I found a secret flip-out that allows me to charge AAA batteries. So, I would like to change the star-rating to a 4.5. Not a 5, because it does overheat if left in the outlet for too long.
Please don’t waste your money!

As several other reviewers have stated these batteries start out strong but fade very quickly. For the first 4 or 5 charges they performed brilliantly, powering my digital camera with ease and allowing me to take many photos. Then came the sudden drop in performance. I was lucky to get 10 quick shots off before the batteries died. Now they won’t even power the little wireless mouse I use with my laptop, much less power up a digital camera.
I have no idea if there are better alternatives out there but I urge you not to waste your money on these.
BEWARE!!! After a while it Stops Working!!!

I opened the package and plugged in the unit, following all instructions. The batteries never charged, i tried moving them to different outlets, even tried an old charger. Still the batteries did not charge. I asked for and received a refund.
There is a bug
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Thre is a bug that makes this charger stop charging batteries before they are full. Unplug it and plug again will get the job done, but that is too annoying.
energizer does not recommend overseas use
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Energizer does not recommend using their US chargers overseas
minus 2 stars for not being able to use internationally.
NOTE: no mention in description or package.
Just on energizer’s website:

#9. Can Energizer chargers be used overseas with an adapter?
We do not recommend using our chargers that are designed for US power (120 volts AC at 60 HZ) in foreign countries that have a different power supply. Using overseas voltage adapters can result in permanent damage to charger or wall plug adapter circuitry.
Worked fine for me – even overseas
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this charger this summer in preparation for a trip to Europe. We recharged batteries several times while overseas (220V/50Hz), and it worked fine. No problems with the batteries so far after several recharges.
DO NOT BUY!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this kit for a work compact digital camera. They seemed to work OK for the first two charges. Then I’d get batteries where only one or two out of four were adequately charged. I’d have to keep swapping the batteries until I found the two strongest. Not sure if its a charger or battery problem, but either way, they’re not worth the raw materials they’re made of! And no, I didn’t have a multimeter at my disposal to check the voltages.
