Disappointing for a Leap Frog toy
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Usually the quality of Leap Frog toys is excellent, but this one needs to go back to the drawing board. We’ve had this since last Christmas and the money always gets stuck and requires some major coaxing to get it unstuck. This happens every time there is more than 3 coins in the bottom tray. Everything else about it is great. It provides a great way for preschoolers to become familiar with coins and adding them, but the flawed designed leads to unnecessary frustration. Unfortunately, I haven’t found another cash register that is any better than this one.
Waste of Money

The coins get stuck soo easy …. I know what you are thinking .. when my child gets this I will not let him get all the coins stuck in the toy .. boy are you going to be surprised. When I bought this last year for Chrismas, my son had just turned 3 years old and even after reading all the reviews with some saying it was awesome and some saying that the coins would get stuck, I thought to myself that I would not let my son put too many coins in .. but it happened so fast. Within a few weeks, it was ruined. Please don’t be like myself and I am sure others and think that it won’t happen to you, because it will.
still using it after a year

There are not many toys I can say my son plays with after a year but we are stil using this cash register nearly everyday. We play “store” with its fun price tags and coins. My son loves giving me the money and finding different toys we can put the adorable price tags on and scan! It comes with four “tags” that open and close so you can put them around toys or other objects. They scan in and tell you the price and what coins to insert. Its been a great learning toy. My son knows that four quarter equal one dollar! I would buy this again. Its a great gift. We bought it when my son was three and now at four we still love it.
Disappointing

My daughter would probably like this toy if the coins didn’t constantly get stuck! It’s very annoying because you have to keep sticking a knife inside to move the coins. My daughter gets so frustrated with it that I had to get rid of it.
smart toy, for any age

My daughter received the cash register for Christmas when she was only 1 1/2. She is now 3 1/2 and is still playing with it. My husband wanted to get her just a plain old register, but I wanted something more educational for her, that can grow with her too. Not only does she still play with it, but it goes great with the food and grocery cart. It is a toy that is never rotated out. A lot of reviews listed the coins keep getting stuck, but failed to mention that Leapfrog put a little door to release the coins. Most toy registers have the coins get stuck, not just Leapfrog. It seems unfair to criticize a brilliant toys for this one feature. It has taught my daughter how to count, identify numbers and identify the coins. I know she will have more years to come to enjoy this toy. I think Leapfrog products are by far the best toys you can buy for your child.

My children loved this toy because it was fun and made alot of sound. However, the coins did get stuck all the time and were not easy to get out. This last time several got stuck so my husband proceeded to unsrew the thing to get them out. After he had pretty much taken the whole thing apart we still couldn’t get to the coins. Let’s just say it went in the trash and we won’t be buying another one after reading the other reviews. Thanks but no thanks.
Great toy in theory, but….

I really wish my kids were more interested in this because I think it’s a great toy learning toy. But two things keep them from playing with it more often: 1) The coins routinely get stuck in the register. I think the kids get impatient and stuff them in too fast. To get them out takes mom and dad hunting down a screwdriver and taking the thing apart… something neither mom nor dad is willing to keep doing over and over again. 2) Like all toys that come with lots of pieces, the price tags and coins end up scattered all over the house instead of staying with the register, so often when they feel like playing with it they give up when they realize none of the coins or tags are in sight.

This toy was bought in addition to Leap Frog’s grocery cart. They both can scan items. The cash register has a volume control, which I (Mom) likes! It’s VERY EASY to get the coins out! My 4 year old stick all sorts of stuff down the coin slot! This toy is on it’s third child and still like new!
This would have been a great toy if the coins didn’t get stuck

What a total waste of money. This toy would have been great if the coins didn’t get stuck. I’m so mad I spent over $20 on something that broke within a few hours. There are 2 coins wedged in the toy that will not come out. I thought I might be able to dismantle the toy to get the coins out, but no, there is no way to do it! I highly recommend not to waste your money on this toy. I’m so disappointed. I deserve reimbursement.
Great concept

But we had to fix stuck coins 5 times in the first night alone. Within a week we have now hid this toy on top of the fridge because my 18 mos. and 3.5 yo kept getting so frustrated.
