SET Game

SET Game

This award winning card game is for one or more players. It is recommended for ages six and above. The object of the game is to identify “sets” of three cards. Each card is unique in its four features; color – red, green or purple, symbol – diamond, squiggle or oval, shading – solid, striped or open, and number – 1, 2 or 3. A “set” consists of three cards on which each feature is either the same on all of the cards, or different on all of the cards. This game contains complete instructions for play, 81 cards, and a durable plastic carrying case.

4 Stars set
This is a good game for all ages. I play it with my 7 yr old daughter and she loves it but I also play it with other adults. It is a fun game.

5 Stars Set, only if you enjoy your intellegence!
This game is fantastic. The instructions are pretty clear although the game uses a way of thinking most are not used to. A little slow at first as you need to check with others to see if you actually got a ’set’, but after that, it is so much fun!!!!

Potentially educational.

Fantastic for young developing minds, an ‘outside of the box’ kind of game.

5 Stars Not for everyone, but I love it!
If you’re visually-oriented or good at “spacial reasoning,” this game will likely be loads of fun for you. If your brain is wired such that you get headaches when thinking through those questions like “if this gear turns clockwise and this gear turns counter-clockwise, which way does this gear over here turn?,” then you’ll likely not like this game. There’s an online version or two you can play to see if you’d like it before buying it. Even if you do buy it and don’t like it, chances are that someone in your family or circle of friends will love it. I really do!

Quiddler

Quiddler

The challenge of Quiddler is to arrange your entire hand into words. Draw and discard in turn. Try to use those high point letters, but don’t get caught with them uncombined! Quiddler is fast paced because you can play using everyday words. A bonus is given for the most words in each round (so little words can help you win), as well as for the longest word. Quiddler is a delightful challenge for both rookies and word game lovers. Quiddler is for up to eight players.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars If you love Scrabble and word games, you’ll enjoy Quiddler.
Enjoyed playing Quiddler with adults who are Scrabble hounds. The game would also be fun for kids, especially the three letter word portion for the younger set. The game keeps your attention and doesn’t take forever to finish. It is more interesting because of the progressive challenges.

5 Stars The most played game in our house
We often host game night for our multi-generational friends and family. Quiddler has been the game of choice since we first purchased it. Our very competitive group keeps a dictionary close by to challenge one another. My brother-in-law is often the winner, and claims it’s due to all the “vocabules” he uses. Sorry, pal, that’s NOT in the dictionary! I’ve also given Quiddler several times as a gift. It’s age appropriate for any gamer 9 to 90. Enjoy!

5 Stars We thoroughly enjoy this card game.
Whether with a group or just my wife and I, playing Quiddler is great fun.

4 Stars Scrabble Slam
We searched all oer town for this product and couldn’t find it anywhere in Modesto, Ca We ordered it online and received it promptly and in great condition (new). It ended up costing us aroun $15 shipping included. When I flew out to Dallas to see my daughter, I found the same product for around $5. Oh well.

4 Stars Great for a rainy day
The previous reviewer summed up the game well. However, it’s important to note that the game is played by all players SIMULTANEOUSLY – which does get the pace picked up quite a bit. You have to be pretty quick in “slamming” a card down to create your new word while the other players are all trying to do the same thing. Thus the four-letter word is ever-changing. I saw the commercial for this game on TV and being from a family that loves games about to head out on a family vacation, went to Target where I saw it for about $5. We played it with four adults, three adults and two adults and during each of those scenarios, had a blast. It was fun trying to stump each other with rare four-letter words. My mom has recommended it to several of her friends who have grandchildren. It’s a great game for kids learning to spell and to challenge their word skills. Warning: After several rounds of this game, you’ll find yourself on the lookout for four-letter words all the time!

2 Stars A reasonable card game but not great.
I have no idea why the Amazon price is so out of line with reality on this product. I bought this game at Target for less than $5.00.

It is fun to play and stimulates your brain somewhat, but not to the extent of the original Scrabble game. You can modify the rules and play it with younger players (we play it with our four year old).

Amazon also lists a bunch of choking hazard warnings with this product. Unless your kid can swallow a playing card there is no choking hazard that I can find.

It is worth $5.00 but not $16.00.

Five Crowns

Five Crowns

Five Crowns is a fast paced ingenious rummy-like card game. Its double deck contains five suits (the stars are new), but it has no aces or twos. This unique deck gives you many more options for arranging your hand into sets and sequences. The challenge is to see them make the right combinations, be the first to go out, then watch the others scramble as they get one last chance to cut their losses. Five Crowns, with its beautiful cards, is easy to learn. It starts with three cards and 3’s are wild. The next hand has four cards and 4’s are wild, and so on. You’ll need luck and skill throughout the game because even in the last hand a worthy opponent can come from behind and win. Remember, “the game isn’t over ’til the Kings go wild!” Five Crowns is for up to 2 to 7 players.

4 Stars Great fun for all ages
A great game for kids from 8 to 80. Easy to learn and fast paced so it’s not boring. Simple rules but you have to pay attention as the wild card changes with every new deal of the cards.

5 Stars A good gift for 7-8 year olds….
I had read the reviews prior to the purchase. Considering this is an award winning game, I was sure it would be a good buy. It is a good gift for kids who love words and a first fun game with words before graduating to the Scrabble. Personally, I think it is more fun than the Scrabble for 7 year olds. The 7-8 year olds I bought this game loved it. I got two of them from Amazon. Fabulous gift!
